Quality of internal organizational management
A greater and better internal organization will avert the duplication of work and allow for flexibility when reviewing priorities, so preventing work overload and stress. We help you to optimize existing resources and capacities in your organization. This implies knowing how to translate “What” into “How” by improving the “How”, and confiding in the introduction of management systems, that can cut across organizational work (either at the project management or organizational level). For instance, an organizational improvement of a social organization in its early phases could involve:
· Developing a map of internal organizational processes.
· Defining process manager.
· Managing teams according to competencies
This involves the development of both personal and leadership skills in order to include competency management of human teams, beyond a job definition based purely on functions, but defining the work in a more flexible way to include organizational processes, incorporating a shared vision, and creating opportunities for collective learning.
And added to this:
· The design of management systems.
· The computerization of management systems through the implementation of a suite of ERP applications (enterprise resource planning) with free software (OpenERP/Odoo).
Our services will help you to:
· Conduct a participatory analysis of work processes (learning organizations).
· Develop process maps and work place definition.
· Design management systems adapted to the sector.
· Design tools able to link project management with organizational management.
· Implement a computerized management system, linking, among others, the projects accountability to the institutional accountability.
Odoo is free software that permits you to start with one or a few modules to be gradually adapted to the needs of the organization. The modules will always be integrated; this combination of functionality and flexibility of the modules is one of its greatest strengths.

ACAF (Associació de Cooperació per Àfrica, Amèrica i Àsia) is an NGO devoted to supporting vulnerable and deprived women in Afghanistan. One of its main programmes aimed at accompanying women going to hospital in the city of Herat, next to Iran, after trying to kill themselves (in 2006 more than 600 burnt themselves). In 2009, At a time when the organization was going through significant changes in its support of women’ organisations ACAF requested UBORA’s support in carrying through this process.
UBORA supported ACAF in defining its strategy by reinforcing the focus on women empowerment. To this purpose, priorities and needs were refined and revisited converting them into specific actions, as well as reinforcing their networking strategy.
SETEM Catalunya is a Catalan NGO that works on awareness raising mainly on North-South inequalities, denouncing their causes and promoting personal and collective transformation to achieve a more just and united world. In 2011 SETEM identified the need for external support in the revision of its organisational and social structure.
UBORA gave advice on facilitating this process and an internal steering commission was created for this purpose. The aim was to build an organisational structure that could be effective and participative, promoting horizontality and a focus on gender perspective as well as facilitating teamwork. Interviews were held with all staff, and several workshops were also provided. This resulted in the jobs description and teams structure being revised, the development of proposals for organisational and steering structure, and an internal capacity building plan.
We worked in coordination with the Gender Commission to ensure the consistency of the organizational reflection, including the challenges of gender equity in the organisation. Workshops were carried out with different stakeholders, boards members, staff and engaged members.
In this Project we worked in cooperation with
ADIS (Association of Sub-Saharan migrant women) is an organization of African women based in Catalonia, created in 2004. They have a mission to defend human rights and fight against traditional practices harmful to the health of women, such as female genital mutilation (MGF).
ADIS promotes the participation of African women in Catalan society and works to make possible the process of empowerment of this group of women, to ensure their autonomy and fortify their capacity to make decisions on their own. It does it through providing training spaces or income generation collective initiatives. It also promotes ties between women groups in Senegal and the diaspora community implementing co-development projects, and promoting the relationship with other groups of women living in Senegal through co-development projects. UBORA has been supporting a long-term capacity building process of ADIS members, sustained over the period 2009-2012.
On the one hand, UBORA provided support for the formulation, monitoring and evaluation of cooperation projects and education for development carried out by ADIS either individually or in partnership. Secondly, UBORA conducted in-job training in order to increase ADIS’s capacity for project management. This accompaniment further contributed to strengthen the organisation at both technical and strategic level.
